                            Eine Rock'n'Roll-Legende kehrt zurück :

                                          Die Buddy Holly-Show

                                          „That'll be the day“

ist vom 23. bis 27. Juni im Estrel Berlin zu sehen

Berlin, 3. Juni 2010.

Später sang Don McLean über diesen Tag „The day the music died". In der Show „That'll be the day“ lebt er weiter – Buddy mit seiner Gitarre, seiner schwarzen Brille und seinen Welthits.

Estrel Berlin presents: That'll be the day , The Buddy Holly Show

The Return of a Rock 'n' Roll Legend:

The Buddy Holly Show "That'll be the day" is showing

from 23rd to 27th June at the Estrel

Berlin, 3rd June 2010.

From 23rd to 27th June the Estrel Berlin is celebrating the musical comeback of the most popular horn-rimmed glasses wearer in music history: Buddy Holly! The Buddy Holly Show "That'll be the day" – named after the 1957 hit that brought Holly stardom – will be an extravaganza documenting the short, turbulent life of the Rock 'n' Roll legend.

In the latest of the Berlin stage shows "Stars in Concert", producer Bernhardt Kurz pays musical homage to Buddy Holly - the gawky, nondescript, Texas 'boy from next-door', who became a world-famous superstar in the mid 1950's. Holly played with the likes of Bill Haley and Elvis Presley, and was the first white artist ever to play at New York's Apollo Theater where he took the public by storm.

Audiences back in the days of petticoats went wild by over 30 unforgettable hits like 'Peggy Sue', 'Oh Boy', and were enchanted by 'Words of Love'. The highlight of the "That'll be the day" tribute show - brought to you by Creative Director of "Stars in Concert", Paul Langley - is Buddy Holly's last ever concert at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa, where the 22 year-old rocked alongside his friends, the musical greats "The Big Bopper" and Ritchie Valens ('La Bamba') while on tour.

After the concert they took a private plane, which would take them on to their next show. But they never arrived. The plane crashed, killing the pilot and all the passengers. Later Don Mc Lean wrote a song about that day 'The Day the Music Died'. He wanted to point out Buddy Holly's significance as an artist for the music world; his influence on the development of rock music is still apparent today, with The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and even Bob Dylan aligning them with Holly. In the show "That'll be the day" he lives on – Buddy, with his guitar, his black horn-rims, and his world hits.

In the role of Buddy Holly we have none other than the Welshman, Ian Wood, who has become well known for his successful performances in the "Stars in Concert" productions, the ABBA Story, "Thank you for the Music", and "Shakespeare & Rock 'n' Roll".

Coincidentally, Ian Wood first came into contact with Buddy Holly's music through his father: "My dad always used to listen to his music in the car. When I was 13 I got a guitar, and the first song I learnt to play was 'Peggy Sue'.
