This is the world famous poster from the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake IA announcing the Winter Dance Party and their stars for Monday, February 2nd, 1959. Most of the stars mentioned on this poster lost their lifes shortly afterwards on a corn field belonging to the Albert Juhl Farm near Mason City.

The British Buddy Holly Society donated these 78s to the Surf. The Society sends representatives to the Reunion every year. In 2006 they sent 25 Buddy fans to Clear Lake, according to the director of tourism.

Stunden danach war er schon tot, ein Schneesturm trieb das kleine Flugzeug, das von einem im Instrumentenflug nicht sehr erfahrenen Piloten gesteuert wurde, hinab auf den Boden, wo es zerschellte.
